Montella Pleased With Milan's Performance Despite Defeat Against Chelsea

AC Milan suffered their second preseason defeat, this time falling into a 3-1 defeat against Chelsea in the ICC friendly tournament. However, that result doesn't necessary painted the whole picture of that tie as Rossoneri actually played pretty good for at least 70 minutes. That positive outing was praised by Milan head coach, Vincenzo Montella, who admitted that he is happy seeing how his players continue to show progress  in their attempt of playing football with his philosophy.

Rossoneri started off in a dominant fashion and were able to control the ball possession well, though they still making mistakes at the back when building up an attack. Up front, Milan were able to create some good chances, but at some situation, it seems Montella would like his side to make an extra pass instead of taking early shots. Milan missed several good opportunities in that game, allowing the Blues to also push on and score their goals. The Red and Black themselves got their through Giacomo Bonaventura's lovely free kick.

Three of Blues goals were defensive errors that Montella will surely try to address, apart from maybe the second one which was a spot kick from Oscar, that happened after Andrea Poli accidentally handled the ball. It was an interesting match with Milan playing well in possession, while Chelsea looking more direct, a situation that Rossoneri's side should be facing more when they got start their Serie A season. Despite a rather disappointing result, Montella sees that his players have the potential in playing his style and hopefully the remaining players who stayed at Milanello along with potential arrivals can further speed up that process.

Anyway here is the video of Milan's game against Chelsea:
