Pulisic Admits Pioli's Importance in Milan Move from Chelsea

Christian Pulisic admits that Stefano Pioli plays an important part in the attacker's decision to join AC Milan in this summer transfer window. The USMNT star signed for the Rossoneri from Chelsea and is looking forward to having a much better adventure at his new club.

Pulisic Reveals Stefano Pioli's Importance in Milan Move

The 24-year-old was unveiled as Milan's new player on July 14, signing on a four-year deal until 2027 with an option to extend it for another season. Speaking more about his move to the fashion city, Pulisic reveals that his continuous talks with head coach, Pioli is a major key for that deal to eventually materialize.

In an interview with the media ahead of Milan's friendly match against Real Madrid, Pulisic stated how he was ultimately convinced by Pioli that joining the Rossoneri are the right move for the versatile attacker.

"What attracts me to join Milan? As I told u, it was the conversation with Pioli. It seems like the best decision for me. I'm happy to be at Milan, I will give my all to the club," Pulisic revealed.
"Speaking to Pioli, it didn't take much for me to join Milan, a few conversation was enough. The coach made it clear that he wanted me here."

Pulisic's statement pretty much indicates that Rossoneri's management plan in giving Pioli more of a role in the transfer market is certainly being implemented. If reports are to believe, Milan have been working hard to provide the coach with players that he wants and suits with his tactical setup.

Disappointing Chelsea Season Didn't Stop Milan from Signing Pulisic

Despite his rather disappointing season with Chelsea, Milan are not bothered as they remain keen on pushing for the American international's signature this summer. Pulisic becomes the club's third official signing after previously snatching Marco Sportiello and Luka Romero.

Aside from his underwhelming season with the Blues, the concern looming for the 24-year-old has been his health. The player is known to be a bit injury prone as since joining Chelsea, in the 2019/20 season he regularly missed more than 10 games each season. However, Pulisic's injury problem pretty happened only happened during his time at Stamford Bridge as that was not much of an issue when he was at Borussia Dortmund.

Milan's injury record hasn't been great under Pioli's reign but there seems to be a positive improvement in the second half of last season. This season there seem to be some changes being made in the training setup by using more ball work. That slight training change might be aimed to reduce injury issues, especially in the first part of the upcoming new season.
