Having collected four points from their opening two matches, Carlo Ancelotti's side knew another win would guarantee first place. Brazil immediately took control of the contest and opened the scoring after just seven minutes when Vinicius Junior capitalized on a defensive mistake by the Tartan Army.

Brazil continued to dominate possession and doubled their advantage in first-half stoppage time. Vinicius completed his brace with a well-placed header after meeting Bruno Guimarães' pinpoint cross, giving Seleção a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break.

The five-time world champions maintained their attacking intensity in the second half and added a third goal just after the hour mark. Cunha calmly finished another flowing move to put the result beyond doubt and cap another impressive attacking display.

Scotland tried to respond and searched for a consolation goal, but Steve Clarke's side failed to find a way past Alisson. Brazil comfortably saw out the match to finish as Group C winners.

Brazil ended the group stage level on seven points with Morocco but claimed first place thanks to a superior goal difference. Both nations advanced to the knockout stage, while Scotland must now wait to discover whether their three-point tally will be enough to qualify as one of the tournament's best third-placed teams.

Match Notes

Brazil

  • Carlo Ancelotti appears to have found his preferred starting lineup, giving Brazil greater balance and consistency.
  • Seleção looked increasingly confident in attack, although there is still room for improvement in their defensive organization.

Scotland

  • If the Tartan Army qualify as one of the best third-placed teams, they will need to raise their overall performance in the knockout stage.
  • Scotland must reduce costly defensive errors and play with greater speed and directness in attack.
