Erling Haaland continued his outstanding goalscoring run at the FIFA World Cup 2026 as the Manchester City striker netted the winning goal in Norway's 2-1 victory over Ivory Coast. Haaland's late strike secured an important win for the Vikings, sending them into the Round of 16 for a mouth-watering clash against Brazil.

Haaland Scores Norway's Winner Against Ivory Coast

One of the standout Round of 32 ties took place at Dallas Stadium as two of the tournament's dark horses, Norway and Ivory Coast, battled for a place in the Round of 16. Both teams immediately showed their attacking intent and looked eager to prove they belonged among the tournament's remaining contenders.

Norway struck first as Antonio Nusa curled a superb finish into the net from inside the penalty area. However, Ivory Coast refused to back down and eventually found an equalizer in the second half when Amad Diallo produced a brilliant individual effort before firing home in the 74th minute.

Just as the match looked destined for extra time, Norway found the decisive breakthrough. Erling Haaland calmly converted from close range three minutes from full time to restore the Vikings' lead.

Despite throwing players forward in search of another equalizer, Ivory Coast could not find a way back into the contest and were forced to accept a narrow defeat.

The victory sends Norway into the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16, where they will face tournament favorites Brazil.
